Add multiple magnets in qBittorrent WebUI with one shared dialog
Paste one magnet per line and apply shared batch settings in qBittorrent WebUI. Includes file-selection guidance and the 5.2.4 caveat.

To add multiple magnets in the built-in qBittorrent WebUI, open File → Add Torrent Link…, paste one complete magnet URI per line, clear Open separate dialog for each torrent, and click Continue. With the Add Torrent dialog enabled, one shared window lets you apply settings to the batch before clicking Download. These controls are present in the qBittorrent 5.3.0 WebUI.
Use magnets supplied by legitimate distributors, and download or share only content you have the right to use.
Add the batch
- Sign in to your qBittorrent WebUI. In the built-in interface, select File → Add Torrent Link… from the File menu.
- Paste the magnet list. Each complete
magnet:?…URI belongs on its own line. Do not separate magnets with commas or paste a webpage address instead of its magnet link. Keep the parameters belonging to each magnet together. - Clear “Open separate dialog for each torrent.” Leaving it checked opens an individual settings window for each link. The WebUI remembers this choice, so check its state when returning to a batch workflow.
- Click Continue. With multiple links and separate dialogs disabled, qBittorrent opens one shared Add Torrent window, unless you have disabled that window entirely. The link-dialog implementation splits your input at newlines, trims surrounding whitespace, and ignores empty lines.
- Choose the batch settings. Set the save location, category, tags, and whether to start the torrents. The shared dialog’s options apply to all torrents in the batch, as described in the feature’s pull request.
- Click Download, then check the transfer list for the entries you intended to add.
If you want to add the batch without immediately starting it, clear Start torrent in the shared window. That control is included in the Add Torrent form.
Shared settings or individual file selection?
Use the shared dialog when all magnets should use the same settings. Split the list into separate batches if different groups need different destinations or categories.
Use separate dialogs when you need to inspect each torrent’s file list or choose files before confirming it. For magnets, the file list requires metadata, so you may need to wait for it to load. In shared mode, qBittorrent hides the individual file pane, rename field, and torrent-information section; it is not a combined file-selection window. This distinction is explicit in the shared-mode interface code.
Do not treat the shared window as a total-size preview. The feature’s developer explained that calculating the batch’s total size would require fetching metadata and was left for future work.
If the interface behaves differently
The shared-dialog checkbox is missing: Check the version running on the server or NAS, not a separate desktop installation. qBittorrent added this shared WebUI dialog in 5.2.4, released September 28, 2026. As of October 25, 2026, the newer stable release is 5.3.0, released October 19. These instructions describe the built-in WebUI; an alternative interface may expose different controls.
Continue adds torrents without showing settings: The WebUI submits the batch directly when the Add Torrent dialog is disabled. Open Tools → Options… and enable Display torrent content and some options under Custom WebUI settings to review settings before adding the batch. This is the dialog-enable control used by the link dialog’s direct-add branch.
Version 5.2.4 shows “Unknown free,” or Download appears to do nothing: A reported 5.2.4 regression involves a missing free-space endpoint used by the new dialog. Some reporters could still add torrents despite the warning; others could not. The feature discussion also acknowledges the backport problem. “Unknown free” is therefore not proof that the disk is full. Check the actual destination’s free space and permissions, and consider updating to the current stable release rather than repeatedly submitting the same batch.
Entries appear but remain at “Retrieving metadata”: Adding the magnets and retrieving their metadata are separate steps. The BEP 9 metadata extension lets clients obtain torrent metadata from peers without first downloading a .torrent file. A shared dialog does not itself supply that metadata. For the underlying mechanism, see how a magnet link’s hash finds the file.
